These are pop-up picture books or books with added flaps which can be lifted, pull-tabs, peek-a-boo holes and various other paper mechanics. Children can decide their own level of inquiry by choosing either to explore the side avenues offered by interactive features or to ignore them. For instance, they can lift a flap to see what is beneath, or they can control how fast or slow a fire engine or train will pop up. Such small choices indirectly help young children learn to make decisions. Pop-up picture books that show the dimension of objects also teaches our children that to look at things from different perspectives. More often than not, these features also lead to more interactive reading experience for children and serves as the first step to inculcate a love for reading amongst young children.
